The volume of emigration from Poland began to rise from mid 19 century, mainly from the territory of the Kingdom of Poland. Among many destinations, Poles also left for Siberia. Accurate assessment of the volume of these flows proves difficult since official statistics cover only migrations from the area of above-mentioned Kingdom of Poland and a lot of settlers came from other parts of what used to be the Polish state. The first families of Polish peasants lived in the rural area of 'janisejska' district, but were also found in other parts of southern Siberia.
