The geopolitical consequence of the present meltdown is that the West has reached the limits of expansion. The eponymous turbulence is symbolised by two events: the Caucasus conflict and the collapse of the US financial markets. Against this background the author presents his interpretation of Poland and the united Europe's place in the world. Fortunately, the problems that emerge did not put in question the West's classical development model founded on a coherent, organic merger of liberal democracy and an open market economy. Hubris has been punished and the Western model's excesses have been laid bare.
