Considering numerous examples of the Ukrainian particle 'ta' usage in colloquial speech, the author discovers its most frequent communicative senses, which are 1) spontaneous expression of thoughts, feelings, emotions, evaluation etc.; 2) emphasis of the addresser's words; 3) commonness of the event or fact which is mentioned in the message; 4) necessity to agree with the words, decisions, deeds etc. of the interlocutor and some other. An attempt has been made to discover paradigmatic links of this particle with other discourse words.
