The paper deals with a large group of Polish titles and professions names, like 'dyrektor' (director, manager) or 'redaktor' (editor), which can be used with reference to a male or female person. Depending on this they are of masculine (exact.: masculine-personal) or feminine gender. The author considers some proposals of their grammatical description on the basis of structural and generative grammar and in monolingual dictionary. The conclusion is that each of these lexemes should be registered in two lexical entries, e.g. dyrektor1 masc. and dyrektor2 fem.
