This paper addresses the discrete event simulation-based approach to logistic system analysis. A classification of logistic systems models is introduced, examples of simulation projects are provided, and a typical structure of a simulation project is considered; in particular, the conceptual modelling project stage is described. The paper is of topical character, and thus it fulfils the authors' purpose to show the potentialities of simulation-based research of logistic systems and to emphasize their important features.
