The fonds contains most of the documentation produced in the Secretariat of the General Curia during the period of the Ursulines of the Polish Union, hence it was called the General Curia of the Ursulines of the Polish Union. This is closed fonds, which basically includes the archival material from the years 1919-1936, but it also contains fragmentary materials, treated as anterior, from the autonomous period of the Ursuline convents. There are also some records of the Roman Union before 1936, gathered by the Polish Ursulines during the preparation for the accession to the Roman Union. Additionally, the fonds includes registers, which were kept from the beginning of the existence of the Polish Union, and the entries in these books were continued after 1936. After dividing the fonds of the Province of the Polish Ursulines of the Roman Union, these records were placed in the fonds of the General Curia of the Ursulines of the Polish Union, and later entries were treated as posteriora. Finally, the date range of the fonds encompasses [1871] 1919-1936 [1956]. The Fonds comprises 212 archival units and measures 2,80 linear metres. The documents are in good physical condition. The fonds contains the documentation typical of the managerial office of the religious congregation, that is, the legislation concerning houses and sisters, correspondence, minutes of the board meetings, reporting, general personal records, the documentation connected with the monastic formation and with various monastic activities (pastoral, work for other institutions, publishing). It is also noteworthy that the fonds includes materials which demonstrate different ways of communication between the Polish Ursulines, other Ursuline convents and the Roman Union during the unification of the Ursuline convents around the world, among others: the correspondence with the superiors of the Roman Union, the Roman Union support for the mission territory in Harbin, small chronicles of travel. However, the fonds of personal records does not include the records of the Polish Ursulines who died after 1936 as these documents were placed in a separate collection and marked with the classification codes from AZ 1 do AZ 163 (AZ is the code for the records of the deceased sisters).
