In this article the point of departure of the considerations is an assumption that media are able to increase young people's interests, and even encourage them to participate in activities in the widely understood culture. Attractiveness and common accessibility makes the role of the media a particular one in stimulating young people's participation in culture. Providing an unlimited access to programmes varied from the quality point of view, the media can change a passive participant into an active one aware and critical of the media. The influence of communication mass media on an individual and their relation to cultural education is shown.
