Based on the results of research carried out among 55 university spin-offs, the article presents main factors determining university firms' competitive advantage. The results emphasize the key importance of employees' knowledge, their technological competencies, as well as close contact with customer and fast response to customer real or stimulated needs in achieving success in the global market.
