In article number 1603404, Yun‐Long Wu, Xian Jun Loh, and co‐workers have created a self‐indicating hydrogel that instantly reveals real‐time drug concentration in the hydrogel. The gel shows potential as a drug concentration meter to benefit experimental non‐invasive monitoring of actual drug release profile, which is not effectively supported by current technologies and materials.
A new drug concentration meter is developed. In vivo drug release can be monitored precisely via a self‐indicating drug delivery system consisting of a new aggregation‐induced emission thermoresponsive hydrogel. By taking the advantage of a self‐indicating system, one can easily detect the depletion of drugs, and reinject to maintain a dosage in the optimal therapeutic window.
Theranostic hyaluronic acid (HA) prodrug micelles with pH-responsive drug release and aggregation-induced emission (AIE) properties were prepared by chemical graft of biomimetic phosphorylcholine (PC), anticancer drug doxorubicin (DOX) and AIE fluorogen tetraphenylene (TPE) to the HA backbone. DOX was conjugated to the HA backbone by a hydrazone bond which can be hydrolyzed under acidic environment...
