The synthesis and characterization of silver(I) 2-phenyl-3,6,9-trioxadecanoate (3) is described. Thermal decomposition of 3 at 100–165°C in a long-chained amine resulted in the formation of monodisperse silver nanoparticles with sizes of about 7–10nm. By variation of the reaction conditions aspherical silver nanoparticles with hexagonal contours could be obtained, which is a novelity for silver nanoparticles...
We present investigations on ordered monolayers of various phthalocyanines (CoPc, SnPc, F16CoPc, Lu(Pc)2) adsorbed on Ag(111) and Ag(110) by STM, STS, and PES. The results will help to improve our understanding of the adlayer structure and the electronic structure of the interface to the substrate. Possible applications in nanoelectronics will be discussed.
Crystallographic Image Processing (CIP) is applied to experimental Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM) images of regular (2D periodic) arrays of organic molecules on noble metal substrates. The crystallographically averaged (surface) lattices, structural motifs, and plane symmetry groups of the arrays are determined. An assessment of the samples with the goal of utilizing highly symmetric molecular...
Adsorption of the non-planar molecule tin-phthalocyanine (SnPc) on a Ag(111) single crystalline surface was studied by means of VT-STM under UHV conditions. For coverage less than one monolayer and deposition on a substrate held at room temperature, a disordered and an ordered phase were found. The disordered phase showed short range ordering in terms of molecular chains and agglomerates. For the...
