We demonstrate normal and anomalous dispersion engineering as well as self phase modulation induced pulse spectral broadening in silicon nitride waveguides. Nonlinear losses are shown to be absent up to peak intensities of 12GW/cm2.
We propose and demonstrate a novel system configuration to simplify a central station in a millimeter-wave radio-on-fiber system. Optical wavelength paths are switched using tunable light sources and required devices can be reduced.
Resonant filters in waveguides with vertical gratings have been realized on a silicon-on-insulator wafer. Two identical uniformly distributed Bragg reflectors with vertical gratings are separated by a quarter wavelength phase offset. Experimental studies show a broad stopband and a narrow transmission band which shifts with changing substrate temperature that is also illuminated by an external laser...
In this paper, we extend our approach to implement a resonant filter and resonant modulator using lithographically defined nanostructures on sidewalls of a waveguide in silicon on insulator (SOI) material system
