This paper presents an analysis of MIMO antennas consisting of notch antenna and loop antenna for a wide area mobile communication system with bi-directional radiation patterns. The notch antenna radiates a horizontally polarized wave while the loop antenna radiates a vertically polarized wave. The MIMO antenna is designed for 4G applications with the resonance frequency at 3.5 GHz. The antenna produces...
Radiation pattern adjustment of a double notched antenna is discussed in this paper to show a way of applying characteristic modes analysis for antenna parameter optimization. In this example, radiation pattern of the antenna is adjusted to omni-directional type and bi-directional type, respectively, by changing responses of two different characteristic modes of the antenna.
To efficiently optimize antenna parameters, we need to know more physical insight of antenna operating principles. The theory of characteristic modes is one of the best methods to help us penetratingly understand the antenna's operating principles. This paper is devoted to apply the theory of characteristic modes to provide an in-depth physical insight into the behavior of some proposed antennas and...
In this paper we propose a horizontally polarized antenna with omni-directivity in horizontal plane to use for reference antenna. Ripple coefficients of the radiation pattern in horizontal plane improve to ±0.1 dB. The theory of characteristic modes is used to analyze and illustrate the reason of the excellent omni-directivity property of the proposed antenna.
In this letter, we propose a horizontally polarized antenna with omni-directivity in horizontal plane. Ripple coefficient of the radiation pattern in horizontal plane improves up to dB. The theory of characteristic modes is used to analyze and illustrate the reason for why the omni-directivity property of the proposed antenna improved. Finally, we verify the antenna performances by experiment.
In this paper we propose a horizontally polarized antenna with omni-directivity in horizontal plane. Ripple coefficient of the radiation pattern in horizontal plane improve to ±0.1 dB. The theory of characteristic modes is used to analyze why the omni-directivity property of the proposed antenna increased comparing with that before optimization.
This paper shows relative antenna clearance to discuss electrically occupied space of small antenna element by defining the input impedance variation in the presence of electrical disturbance near tested antennas. A half wavelength conducting wire is introduced as the disturbance. The distance from the tested antenna to the conducting wire is defined as the relative clearance and typical small antennas...
