The exploration of graphene nanoribbons (GNRs) and understanding of the structure–property relationship requires the synthesis of GNRs with precisely controllable architecture. In this communication we report on bottom-up fabrication of wide armchair GNR from a para-oligophenylene based molecular precursor. The obtained GNR represents the widest rationally synthesized GNR up to now.
Graphene-based nanomaterials are expected to have a profound impact on a broad range of applications. However, studies devoted to investigating the putative adverse health effects of these nanomaterials are hugely underrepresented in the current scientific literature. We have investigated the in vitro short-term cellular toxicity associated with graphene derivatives (GD): graphene oxide and reduced...
Patterned films of decorated nitrogenated carbon (C-N) nanotubes were catalytically synthesised by hot filament chemical vapour deposition (HF-CVD) in a nitrogen-methane-ammonia environment. The systematic study of a transition between different kinds of C-N nanostructures as a function of the local substrate temperature ranging from 700 up to 820 o C is presented. The morphology, the diameter...
