Thickness dependence of second harmonic generation in atomically thin InSe is studied. A strong resonance is observed, attributed to interference between distinct surface and bulk nonlinear contributions.
We present our studies of photoinduced quasi-particle dynamics in correlated electron metals. At room temperature, these materials exhibit metallic behavior characterized by the presence of a Fermi surface. Electronic correlations lead to a modification of the low-energy electronic structure near the Fermi level resulting in the opening of gaps or partial gaps due to such phenomena as density waves...
The capture dynamics of photogenerated carriers in InGaAs quantum posts (QPs) are investigated. We demonstrate that QPs efficiently capture carriers from the surrounding host material within a few picoseconds, making them attractive for device applications.
We measured the pump-probe reflectance relaxation time in multiferroic Eu0.75Y0.25MnO3. The relaxation time can be tuned by magnetic field and follows the temperature dependence of the low-energy spectral weight that includes phonons and electro-active magnons.
We report a giant magnetoelastic effect in multiferroic Ba0.6Sr1.4Zn2Fe12O22 measured by ultrafast pump-probe spectroscopy. Coherent phonon excitation allows to measure the field- induced changes in the speed of sound and the corresponding elastic stiffness.
