Based on the change of the productive and energetic matrix of Ecuador, that consist in the substitution of liquid gas coming from black oil for electricity to cook food and water heating for human use in residential areas, a prototype Toroidal Coil (TC) for a water heater Magnetic Induction (MI) is presented in this article.
In Ecuador there is a lot of electrical accidents especially to level residential, due to unknown of people in the electrical protection necessary for the human safety. Thus, most homes do not have protection systems to ensure the lives of people, this situation increases the probability that an electrical accident that results in the loss of life occurs. This work focuses on the behavior of electrical...
In the investigation of new methodologies and technologies, with the purpose of developing a major efficiency in the Electrical Systems of Power, whilst also finding methods to mitigate or minimize the disadvantages or risks to the environment; they have found ways to innovate new unconventional techniques of securing the electrical energy to implement to the electrical service network (to sell to...
It is well known that human safety regarding electromagnetic contamination due to the presence of electrical devices in residential areas, like transmission or distribution lines, substations and transformers is imperative. These devices contribute to residential or industrial electromagnetic field exposure, which can be correlated with serious drawbacks for the health as childhood leukemia and; cancer...
It is well known that electromagnetic fields (EMF) are presented or produced on Utilities elements especially distribution feeders (DFs), which due to the demand, these have increased their capacity. However, DFs are operating near of their limits, which have produced an increase in EMF values, being a preoccupation for their possible effects on the human health. In this context, it is necessary to...
This paper presents an assessment between Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Wavelet Transform (WT) signal processing techniques applied for Transmission Lines (TLs) lightning stroke classification. In this work, the atmospherics discharges signals are analyzed in two steps. The first step objective is patterns extraction, which is developed through Principal Component Analysis and the Wavelet...
It is clear that the development of new methodologies that increase the electrical systems efficiency and the welfare of users, avoiding pollution as best as possible, are highly desired by researchers and utilities. In this context, in Ecuador, basic service elements like water heaters are usually used by population. Where, currently water heaters based on Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) are used....
Voltages produced by atmospheric discharges are considered the main causes of electric power outages. The study of atmospheric discharges should be analyzed and studied in order to make good insulator coordination. In this context, Footing Tower Resistance (FTR) is a crucial parameter in lightning strokes studies. FTR performance is variable with the time, thus their value is not constant. Therefore,...
This paper presents a sensitivity assessment of a 23kV distribution feeder subject of indirect lightning. The study focuses in a comparative performance analysis of different configurations poles. Four distribution lines topologies performance are assessed. ATP program was used to simulate the electromagnetic phenomena and to evaluate the transients caused by induced lightning discharges.
