We report the design and test of the transmission line for DNP spectrometer with 258GHz gyrotron. The 16 meter line includes mode converter, HE11 waveguides, 5 mitre bends, variable attenuator, directional couplers, calorimeter and switch. Transmission is 70 ± 15% with 15Watt in the pure HE11 mode.
The acute problem of in-waveguide transformation of an operating mode of the coaxial cavity gyrotron TE34,19 into paraxial Gaussian beam is solved. A short highly effective launcher which provided such a transformation is synthesized, fabricated and tested. Results of the experiment confirm the approach adequacy. The measured TEM0,0 mode content in the output launcher wavebeam exceeds 95%.
