This work outlines the design and simulation of a multilayer inkjet-printed mm-wave on-package antenna with a focus on electrical isolation from the packaging substrate. For the first time, a fully-printed SoP solution is outlined for the attach, 3D interconnection, and integration of an IC die with a peripheral 30 GHz microstrip-fed antenna. A CPW to microstrip feed transition is simulated to interface...
In this paper an approach to fully 3D print Radio-Frequency (RF) components and devices, with commercial, low-cost platforms, is presented. The manufacturing methodology and materials are described, while ring resonators and microstrip lines are used to characterize the materials up to 8 GHz. The substrate used is Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS), which has been demonstrated to have a permittivity...
In this paper, a novel inkjet-printed flexible broadband multilayer coupler on a polyimide film (Kapton) in substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) technology is implemented for the first time. A flexible broadband microstrip-to-SIW interconnect is inkjet-printed and its flexibility is tested. An inkjet-printed multilayer coupler is also demonstrated based on the flexible SIW interconnect.
A new type of compact dual-band directional antenna is proposed for 2.4/5-GHz wireless access point and RFID reader applications. The dual-band antenna consists of a longer dipole for the lower band and a pair of shorter dipoles for the upper band. A simple coupling microstrip line is employed to excite the dipoles. Both the dual-band antenna and the feeding microstrip line are printed on the same...
