The density fluctuations and blobs present in the edge region of magnetic fusion devices can scatter radio frequency (RF) waves through refraction and diffraction. This work considers refractive scattering using the geometric optics approximation and canonical perturbation theory. We derive the evolution equation for wave vectors along a ray as it encounters a random distribution of density blobs...
The present paper is devoted to the analysis of electron interaction process in the course of gyrotron switching from one mode to another. This analysis is based on the use of the Hamiltonian formalism that allows one to construct Poincare plots for different instants of switching time. The study is carried out for a 170 GHz MW-class gyrotron for ITER.
The recently derived Hamiltonian map for description of electron dynamics replaces the original continuous gyrotron differential equation by a discrete iterative map which runs much faster on computers than the small-step standard numerical integration methods, such as Runge-Kutta. It allows a significant reduction of the number of iteration steps required for acceptable accuracy. The gyrotron map...
The formation of spatiotemporal X waves is investigated in planar highly nonlinear normally dispersive AlGaAs waveguides. The roles of the amplitude and relative phase of a CW background on a bell-shaped spatiotemporal beam are considered
