In this paper we present a report on the data quality of a medical database containing clinical and administrative data from hospitals and private clinics in the Bologna district area. In particular, we have analyzed the database according to several data quality dimensions, identifying a number of issues (e.g., inaccuracies and incompleteness) that we have systematized and described in this work.
Representing the content relations in multimedia data plays a crucial role for the delivery of information navigation services. However, current tools for information extraction and visualisation are still far to be satisfactory. This paper addresses this task providing an unsupervised framework for graph-based multimedia news content representation. The system uses hybrid clustering and a graph partitioning...
This demonstration concerns a system designed and implemented to automatically build multimodal aggregations of informative news items coming from the two domains of digital television and the Web. Though in recent times several technological solutions have addressed the problem of clustering online articles, little is available which is capable of integrating these two sources of information. The...
The non-Markovian correlated projection operator technique is applied to the model of a central spin coupled to a spin bath through non uniform XX Heisenberg coupling. The second order results of the Nakajima-Zwanzig and of the time-convolutionless methods are compared with the exact solution considering a fully polarized initial bath state.
The quantity of multimedia content available either through the traditional distribution channels, such as broadcast television, or through new platforms like the Internet, is continuously increasing. Tools for user-oriented access to desired information are thus needed. In this paper, we illustrate a novel fuzzy multimedia mining technique for genre characterisation, aimed at overcoming limitations...
Coordinating tasks is one of the main activities of every grid middleware. There are several ways to achieve this goal, for example using publish/subscribe systems or workflow engines. In this article we will analyse another possible model: tuple spaces. The tuple space model has been successfully used for years for coordinating tasks in computational applications and has interesting characteristics...
