Two polymers, isotactic polypropylene and poly(ethylene terepthalate) were studied at temperatures below, at and above their melting points. FT-Raman spectra at temperatures over 200°C were obtained using a cut off filter at 1490 nm to remove the black body radiation. Results confirm the retention of some crystallinity for a few degrees above the melting point. The significance is discussed.
