Using a two stage, white-light seeded, collinear, femtosecond optical parametric amplifier based on BIBO crystal, sub-30-fs signal pulses with energies exceeding 200-muJ, corresponding to 5-fold pulse shortening and ~30% internal conversion efficiency, are generated.
Relevant properties of BIBO are reviewed and experimental results are presented on both parametric up- and down-conversion of femtosecond pulses, from the high-energy, low-repetition-rate (1-kHz) to the low-energy, high-repetition-rate (56-76-MHz) regime, demonstrating its unique versatility.
Linear and nonlinear optical properties of AgGaGe/sub 5/Se/sub 12/ will be presented which allowed us to produce tunable fs-pulses between 4 and 7.5 /spl mu/m and only 5 optical cycles at 5 /spl mu/m.
Femtosecond pulses in the mid-IR between 5.5 and 11 /spl mu/m are generated by optical parametric amplification in Cd/sub x/Hg/sub 1-x/Ga/sub 2/S/sub 4/ pumped at 0.82 and 1.25 /spl mu/m.
