In reviewing the Fijian Sapotaceae it was found necessary to describe three new species,Planchonella sessilis, Palaquium porphyreum, andBurckella parvifolia, and to propose one new combination,B. fijiensis (Chelonespermum fijiense Hemsl.).
Eleven species ofTerminalia are indigenous in Fiji, Samoa, and Tonga ; the taxonomy is reviewed, with descriptions, keys, and distributional notes. Nine of the species occur in Fiji, and four of these,T. simulans,T. strigillosa,T. capitanea, andT. crebrifolia, are described as new.
