A new direct-conversion wide-band (0.9-4 GHz) four-port receiver is proposed as an alternative to the well-known six-port receiver. The prototype circuit is fabricated to validate this new concept by means of a microwave hybrid integrated circuit technology. To be able to regenerate the IQ-components, a calibration technique based on the proposed architecture is presented.
