This study addresses questions regarding the origin of morphology evolution during Ti anodization. The morphology evolution of anodic TiO2 has been investigated. It is found that voltage dictates the formation of etching pits, which in turn governs anodic TiO2 formation, including nanotube diameter and hexagonal features. It is demonstrated that the surface wettability of anodic TiO2 can be tuned...
TiO 2 with a hybrid nanowire–nanotube structure was synthesized via anodization, and the gradually decreasing thickness of nanotube wall was demonstrated experimentally. Based on the dynamic competition between oxidation and dissolution, a physical model of hybrid nanostructures was proposed, which also evaluates the effects of experimental parameters on the oxide microstructure.
