Leopold Caro was an outstanding Polish lawyer, working on the Jan Kazimierz University in Lvov in the pre-war period. He analyzed both penal and civil branches of Soviet law in their early period of development and was very critical about contents of Soviet codes of 1922. His works on Soviet law are original and he can be regarded as one of the pioneers in the research on Soviet law in Poland.
