However, even this has failed to encourage consumers to express positive opinions on telecommunication services, especially when compared with other sectors. One of the main reasons of the mistrust shown is...
This paper presents an experimental android platform for two-way communication between humans and robots in a healthcare environment using facial expressions. A depth and color sensor is used to analyze and map human facial expressions to a standard 3D face model. An android robotic face is then configured to act out the expressions by deforming an elastic skin using servo actuators.
Nowadays, advertisers and content publishers are constantly struggling to find the best advertising strategies to promote their services. They need to be able to reach the target population that is potentially interested in their products or services, without being too tiresome, and to deliver the content properly in order to capture users' attention. In this paper we describe a system that uses pervasive...
In this paper, we present the acceleration of a pre-trained feedforward artificial neural network executing on a NIOS II processor. Without the use of hardware acceleration, a feedforward artificial neural network spends much of its execution time on the calculation of the activation function between layers, in this case, the hyperbolic tangent function. A speedup of 4.36 was achieved via a custom...
