The ideal multifunctional smart grid electricity use monitor must be able to receive data from substations via a communication network and then process the information. To achieve this goal efficiently, a LabVIEW program has been written to analyse the received data and present it graphically for users. The research outcomes of this paper include an optimised technical design of a smart grid electricity use monitor and a more efficient algorithm for data collection, processing and presentation for professional users. The benefit of having such an efficient design is that users can process and utilise data among terminals and networks in an appropriate and effective manner, and thus increase the utilisation rate of electrical power and quickly detect power network faults. In addition, the optimised data processing and forecasting algorithms employed by this electricity monitor will guarantee a more precise data analysis and will result in an optimised decision-making process at the generation terminal.
